When you are teaching your kids letters and words when they are still discovering the world- you know how brilliant it feels! The word- “smith”- has always amused me! I remember having a blacksmith next to my mother’s house. All daylong he would bang on his pedestal and under his giant hammer the red hot iron would slowly take shape. Sadly the middle man who would buy these finished pieces would earn credits and our hammering neighbor would remain unknown.

A Review - Days of Gold and Sepia by Yasmeen Premji

Author: Yasmeen Premji
Format: Paperback
Language: English
Pages: 425
Price: Rs.399
Publisher: Harper Collins
ISBN Number: 9789350293300

About the Book:

Last year, my sister-in-law gifted me a book titled 'Days of Gold and Sepia' written by Yasmeen Premji. At first, I thought the book was based on a true story by its crispness and a flavor of real set-up and ambience. But, later on I realized that the main protagonist, Lalljee Lakha to be an imaginary character and all other characters were fictitious. I take pride in saying that all the credit goes to the artistic mind of the author herself.

Lakshmi Narayan's Bonsai Kitten - A Brief Review

Author: Lakshmi Narayan
Format: Paperback
Language: English
Pages: 296
Price: Rs. 195
Publishers: Leadstart Publishing Pvt Ltd
ISBN Number: 9381576297

About the Book:

Whenever I hear news about pitiful status of a married Indian woman, I become very sad and thoughtful. I sometimes question about our Indian society where there is upper hand of men in most cases. Instead there should be equality between men and women in thoughts and position. Let's take the case of Divya, the main protagonist in the book titled 'Bonsai Kitten' authored by Lakshmi Narayan, which I read last year when it was newly published. I can very well understand Divya's state of mind in such an ultra-typical and conservative South Indian family environment. I find this book very intriguing and thought-provoking.

Mridula Koshy's Not Only The Things That Have Happened - A Review

Author: Mridula Koshy
Format: Hardcover
Language: English
Pages: 360
Price: Rs.474
Publisher: Fourth Estate
ISBN Number: 9789350293942

About the Book:

Happily enough to say that both my daughters will be one year older in these coming months leaving behind all the mischievous acts that they did last year. I feel great collecting all those cheerful as well as naughty days of my kids in my memories. Last week I finished up reading a book that my hubby and I have bought recently. It was titled 'Not Only The Things That Have Happened' written by Mridula Koshy. Actually, the book title words were the same word fragments said by the protagonist, Annakutty herself to her only niece, Nina. How about these ramblings on my tongue - 'only the kids who cause everything to happen'? Those one of you would say the same thing if you have kids at home just like mine.

About the Book:

Being a stay-at-home mom of two sweet daughters, I never let go off my reading habit between my heavy house duties and responsibilities. On one of my pet library bookshelves, my eyes glued on a hardcover book titled 'Em and The Big Hoom' authored by Jerry Pinto. At first the title name rhymed mechanically and I thought it to be a children book. But, as I read the story blurb I was taken aback. Then and there I was determined to read it at once.
